Descrizione
Itinerary in the Finalese region that we will explore at dusk (at the most suggestive moment), both above and below ground; among stories from the Neanderthal era and Byzantine encampments, abandoned churches and hidden oracles.
In these places, which test our sense of direction, there would be room for a wilderness area and even for a strict reserve.
And once we reach the top of one of the rocks... a satisfying aperitif awaits us!
Itinerary
We ascend to Perti Alto along the "Strada Beretta" (a mule track that flanks Castel San Giovanni and Castel Govone) and then reach the hamlet of Case Valle along the asphalt road.
From here, we take the path that climbs up to the ridge. We'll take a break first at the Grotta dell'Edera to peek into its incredible cave, and then we'll stop at the ruins of a Byzantine castrum. At the top, near the church of Sant'Antonino, the view is splendid, and we'll stop for an aperitif!
Return by the same path to Perti Alto, where, arriving at the Church of the Cinque Campanili along creuze and caruggi, we return to Finalborgo.
Departure/arrival: Finalborgo, meeting at 5 p.m. at Porta Testa
Elevation gain (uphill and downhill): about +/-300 m
Total length: about 10 km
Terrain: easy path in the initial/final part (mule track), mountain trail (with fairly complex and rocky ground) in the central part of the itinerary
